Breakout Learning has announced the addition of Kelly Goldsmith to its Academic Advisory Board as the marketing practice leader. Goldsmith, who serves as a professor of marketing at Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management, is widely recognized for her extensive research in consumer behavior and decision making.

Before joining Vanderbilt in 2017, Goldsmith earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her Ph.D. in Behavioral Marketing from Yale University. She previously taught at the Kellogg School of Management for eight years, where she received several teaching and research awards, including the Sidney J. Levy Award for Excellence in Teaching.

In her role at Breakout Learning, Goldsmith will be responsible for guiding the company’s marketing curriculum, collaborating with its roster of academic authors and instructional designers to bring instruction to life in the company’s AI powered format. A marketing case study about Weight Watchers, personally authored by her, was released just last week.

“Breakout Learning's use of AI to promote active learning through small-group discussions offers a unique opportunity to advance how marketing is taught,” said Goldsmith. “I look forward to contributing to this innovative platform and shaping the future of marketing education.”

Olav Sorenson, Chair of the Academic Advisory Board, noted Goldsmith’s appointment as a strategic addition to the team. “Kelly’s background in behavioral marketing and her record as a creative and inspiring instructor make her a perfect choice to lead our marketing practice. We are excited to have her on board,” said Sorenson.

On April 25th, Goldsmith will be a panelist in “BRING THE NOISE! Modernizing Discussion-Based Learning,” an American Marketing Association live webinar, where she will discuss how her own behavioral research supports the need for a revival of discussion-based pedagogy. The conversation will be moderated by Steven Walters, Chief Content Officer and Co-Founder of Breakout Learning.
