Breakout Learning has added world class professor and researcher Myles Shaver to its Academic Advisory Board to lead the strategy practice. Shaver is a Professor of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, where he holds the Curtis L. Carlson Chair in Corporate Strategy.

Breakout Learning’s advisory board provides the academic rigor behind the company’s interactive business case studies and exercises, which not only educate but also inspire learners through small group discussions on its AI-powered platform. As the strategy practice leader, Shaver will develop discipline-specific teaching plans to guide the content library and recruit academic authors to work with Breakout’s instructional designers and creative teams to bring these plans to life in the new format.

Shaver’s research on corporate expansion is published in leading scholarly journals, and he is invited to present at conferences and universities around the world. He is the recipient of the Irwin Outstanding Educator Award – the most prestigious international teaching award in Strategic Management – and the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business Distinguished PhD Alumni Award. Poets & Quants profiled him in their compilation of the “World’s 50 Best Business School Professors.”

“I expect that Breakout Learning's use of AI to elevate discussion-based learning will enhance the classroom experience in a way that can redefine business education,” said Shaver. “I'm excited to be a part of this and help shape Breakout Learning’s offering in the strategy space."

"Myles was an easy first pick to lead our strategy practice,” said Academic Advisory Board Chair Olav Sorenson. "With deep expertise, a global reputation among strategy scholars, and industry connectivity through his leadership over the Strategic Management Society, he is already making material contributions to the quality and delivery of Breakout Learning’s product offering.”
