New resource will help professors elevate their strategy courses

Breakout Learning, the award-winning ed-tech company that uses the power of AI to monitor and evaluate small group discussions, is introducing comprehensive, discipline-specific teaching plans to help professors utilize the company’s growing catalog of interactive case studies and exercises.

Breakout’s Teaching Plan on Strategy was created by Myles Shaver, Professor and Curtis L. Carlson Chair in Corporate Strategy at University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. Shaver also serves as the Strategy practice leader on Breakout’s Academic Advisory Board.

Professor Shaver’s teaching plan encompasses topics typically covered in an introductory course on strategy – from industry analysis to strategy implementation. For each module, the strategy expert has carefully selected from Breakout’s modern, interactive case studies and experiences that bring the academic concepts to life. Using the company’s award-winning format, students engage in rich small group discussions evaluated by AI. These experiences have been shown to increase student engagement, while AI insights give professors an in-depth view of student discussions and understanding.

The plan also indicates where Breakout experiences can be substituted for course materials professors are likely to already have on their syllabi—for instance, swapping out static Harvard Business Publishing and Ivey cases about Walmart and Evoe Spring Spa with Breakout’s modernized experiences covering the same concepts.
