Breakout Learning has announced the addition of Corinne Bendersky, Ph.D., to its Academic Advisory Board as the Human Resources Management Practice Leader. Bendersky, a Professor of Management and Organizations at UCLA Anderson School of Management, will oversee the development of HR case studies and simulations for Breakout Learning, collaborating with the company’s designers and other leading academics.

An expert in workplace conflict, status, justice, and diversity and inclusion in teams and organizations, her research contributes to both academic knowledge and organizational practice. Her recent projects include developing interventions to reduce gender bias, advancing conflict measurement methods in teams, and using machine learning to analyze conflict expressions and women's representation in media. As Faculty Director of the UCLA Human Resources Roundtable (HARRT), she collaborates with HR executives to share knowledge on cutting-edge HR topics. Additionally, she is the founder of Morpho Leadership Development, consulting on conflict management and diversity and inclusion.

Bendersky is also the author of two Breakout Original experiences. In "Hybrid Work Simulation," students play employees of a consulting firm negotiating a new hybrid back-to-office plan for their team. In "Intuition v. Analytics," students step into the role of a hiring manager who must decide between two candidates.

"Authoring these two Breakout experiences and using them with my students showed me how the platform takes discussion-focused exercises to the next level, giving instructors unprecedented visibility and insight to each small group and driving a much more powerful classroom debrief," said Bendersky. "As a practice leader, I'm excited to build a robust HR Management curriculum using this groundbreaking approach."

"As a leading voice in workplace conflict and human resources topics, Corinne was a clear choice for HR Management Practice Leader," said Academic Advisory Board Chair Olav Sorenson. "She has a history of using innovative methods in her research, and I've been fortunate to work with her for many years on the UCLA Anderson faculty."
